Our First Fur Child

I'm years away from being a real mom, but we've definitely been wanting a dog for quite some time. And where better to find a dog then at the pound (allow me to clarify- there is no better place- try walking through those kennels, knowing that they only get a few days there before hitting the E list, and you can't help but leave with one).

We played with a few puppies (the term in which I call all dogs because it's much cuter than dog), but our heart kept coming back to this little guy.

he is not a fan of posing for the camera.
Meet Payson.

He may be only 6 months old, but he knows what he likes.

He loves going potty outside (which he's done since day 2 with us), playing fetch, cuddling with mom and dad, and eating through cords (well, it was only one cord, and it's my fault).

He doesn't like walking on leashes, loud noises, us going to work, and being kicked out of our bed.

He pretends he doesn't like baths (as evidenced below, but when he's all done he loves being clean- and not smelling like a ferret- side effect of the pound), and that he doesn't sit on the top of the couch when we're at work.

the best dog shampoo EVER
Payson does not like bathtubs.
Since we're not married yet, we joke that Paysons full name is Payson Henderson-Fast. And I think that is hilarious.

Welcome home Payson!

ABC, easy as 123

Miss Lauren over at Busy Bee Lauren has inspired me to give my ABC's. Sort of reminds me of those MySpace surveys from back in the day- maybe that's why I like it. Bring a little MySpace back to my life.

Age- I just celebrated the year and a half anniversary of my 21st birthday
Bedsize- Queen. Which I just purchased this summer. Before then, I spent the past 22 years in a twin bed.
Chores that you hate- Washing dishes is the worst thing on the planet.
Dogs- Mazie. and when I grow up, I want a pug and a boxer.
Essential start to your day- a day that is preceded by 8 hours of sleep.
Favorite Color- Right now, that would be the color yellow.
Gold or silver- White gold for special things, and often times yellow gold, or fake yellow gold, for accessories.
Height- 5'2" (or so I've been told), but I tell everyone 5'1"
Instruments you play- I'm working on the piano.
Job Title- Currently, homecare provider. In about 2 days, Real Estate Agent.
Kids- I don't have any currently, and I pretty much make all babies cry. So, you can say I'm a little worried kids hate me.
Live- Phoenix baby.
Mother's name- Jill. I prefer mom, the Johnson's call her Jillie Bird.
Nicknames- Kelly Fast (apparently it is possible for your nickname to be longer than your real name. a pretty huge chunk of people address me by my full name.), punkie (mom), Kel (one of my most favorite nicknames ever- usually only used by super close friends), Darling and Kell Bell (Dustin), K Fast, and K Foot (for about 10 months sophomore year- longest story ever)
Overnight hospital stays- I'm guessing the day I was born.
Pet Peeves- People chewing with their mouth open may or may not be the WORST thing ever.
Quote from a movie or tv show- Any quote from the Office will do, if it's from a movie, funny one that comes to mind- Steel Magnolias- "He is a boil on the butt of humanity"
Righty or lefty- I write right handed, and if you asked a dancer this question, they would reply with which side is more flexible, which is my left side.
Siblings- 1 younger brother Brandon. He is a pretty fantastic guy.
Time you wake up- Currently I have to wake up twice a week at 5am-ish, and I hate it. Once my real estate career gets up and running, I would love 7:30 or 8. Please please please.
Underwear- Under where?
Vegetable you hate- A "normal" one I hate, corn.
What makes you run late- being ready too early. I always think I have more time than I do, and end up leaving late.
X-rays you've had- Ankles & right knee. The rest were MRI's or fall into the category of I don't remember what they were.
Yummy food you make- I make a bomb.com spaghetti sauce, I love cookin up some pinwheel steaks, stuffed bell peppers, and mashed potatoes.
Zoo Animal- Love me some giraffes.

That's a little about me, hope you liked it! What are your ABC's?

My love

I have many loves, and usually "my love" is used in my vocabulary as-

my love, (noun)- an affectionate pet name for my long time boyfriend, Dustin.

Well, there is a someone else. and I'm obsessed.

And technically, it's a group of people- The Office, is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. And season 8 starts in one week and some odd hours. Yeah, I'm pretty excited.

Blogging hiatus and a rant

I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus. But for very busy reasons. working 30ish hours a week, while going to school 30ish hours a week, while doing physical therapy (ouch), and homework during my down time.

It's been a little insane-o. But wonderful. Because in one week from today I will be finishing my 90 hours of education and getting ready to start the exam process.

[begin real rant here]

When I first decided I wanted to be a Real Estate Agent, I thought it was awesome. And my friends & family agreed. and they are supporting me to the fullest. [as per usual] Because they know I can do anything I set my mind to. But then, somewhere along the line, random strangers felt the need to tell me how my decision to be a Real Estate agent was a stupid one, as the economy is pretty down right now. Why, thanks person I don't even know, you obviously know best.

Actually you probably don't. Bet these people didn't know that 70% of homes sold right now are short sale and foreclosures (i.e. crazy cheap)? I bet they didn't know that the nation is facing record low interest rates, and that if you have the money, this is one of the best times to buy a house? Did they also know that for every home sold $60,000 goes back into our economy? and that people like me are going to help make that happen? and did they know I have heard numerous stories of agents who are in their first year right now and are looking to make around $100,000 this year (while my dreams would be reached if I made even a sliver of that, it makes me wonder- how much are you pulling in per year, stranger?)? I bet they didn't know things like this.

Point of the rant- I am oh so energized and ready to prove these fools wrong. I will be making money this year, doing something I like, and having the schedule I choose. I'll get to help people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. And these strangers can judge, and wrongly assume, because I have my friends and family who will be proud of me. And frankly, that's a-okay with me. Love y'all.

Thanks for your love and support

Media that moves me, If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away

The first time I heard this song, was on my Uncles Birthday. Ironic? Yes. Driving alone in my car coming from Tucson to Phx. [aka Tear City for Kelly in the car] And even more ironic, that night Nicki text me to ask if I was doing okay (which I immediately thought- how did she know I was crying?! but it was because she knew it was his birthday).

It makes me think, what is my version of the song?

I'd bring mom with me and have a girls day with her and my Nana. Afterwards we'd have some Pepsis with Aunt Peggy and Aunt Patty.
I would give my Uncle Eric the biggest hug and talk to him about graduation. and life. and everything. and maybe watch an episode of Doug.
Grandpa Bill and I would sing the oldest songs ever together.
Haley Ford and I would take a dance class with her mom watching by.
Great-a-moomoo (my great grandmother) would tell me stories of when my grandfather was younger.

Those are just a few things I would do if heaven wasn't so far away.

My doppelganger

is...

Frankenstein.

Be jealous.

Just try and tell me you don't see the resemblance.

Wanna see the icky details? Look below. Easily grossed out? Probs shouldn't take a gander.

dr taking a looksie for the first time
blood caused from dr taking a look
halfway through the stitches
3 internal and 12 external stitches
So basically wakeboard fail = 15 stitches and a torn meniscus. I'll know more after my MRI :)

Lipton tea

I am leaving this morning to travel all the way to Scottsdale [errr or a 15 minute drive] to teach at a dance/cheer camp for the next 3 days.

Which means I won't have an unlimited supply of Lipton Tea.

Enjoy your week loved ones. :)

Internet time wasting

I'm a fan of a few time wasting sites. Especially funny ones. (I'm not really the lol cats enthusiast or whatever that site is)

But I love Don't Even Reply. If you can get around the foul language and sometimes graphic images, it's freaking hilarious.

Falling towards the top of my all-time favorites list is, Christmas dinner, and the Shaniqua Chronicles part 1, 2, and 3.

this one just made me giggle.

Literally, this site always makes me laugh out loud, and occasionally until I cry. love love love love.

Two roads diverged in a wood

I have always been a planner of sorts [in that I plan everything and nothing deviates from said plan]

So that put me in quite a predicament when a thought popped into my head that I may no longer want to go to Pepperdine.

I have a pros and cons list a mile long [can anyone say Type A?], and spent quite some time weighing my options.

I came down to this:

I know for sure that I can't afford Pepperdine without a huge loan &&& I don't know if I want to be a psychologist anymore.

Pretty huge reasons, right?

So after  very careful deliberating I have decided that, I will no longer be attending Pepperdine in the fall [and I am currently looking into deferring my acceptance- either way, I will not be there in the fall]

Wow. So that's the "big news" in my life. You may be wondering, so whats the plan [because there is always a plan]

I am going to use the next year to "find myself". There are a lot of venues I'm interested in, and I want to explore them all

As you know, I've been dabbling in photography (just ordered some business cards) and you will also notice I have added and Event Planning to that blog title.

I am currently looking into event planning! I will be using the help of some friends (more specifically their moms) to network, I went to the Arizona Bridal Show today to meet some planners, you know. [side note- I was green with envy when I saw a million engagement rings- God help me with that envy, please]

Basically, I feel like my world is... upside down? I don't have a "plan" and I won't be in school. weird. I know this is the best decision for me at this time, but it still feels strange.

In close, join me on this adventure known as life.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

As of April 1st I'm giving up the grudge, stopping the crap, and living even more freely.

I'm excited. So excited that I'm going to start it right now, on March 31st.

I may need to work on some breathing skills. But I'm totes doing it. Audios bad feelings. :)

Im sorry, how rude

I didn't introduce you to my new bangs.

You've probably been feeling awkward- seeing them in my blog, but no formal introduction.

I pretty much love them. They're functional and [I would like to think] cute.

So bangs, meet my friends, friends, bangs.

Day 13 - A picture of your favorite band or artist

It's hard for me to pick a favorite artist, because there are so many that I like for so many reasons. But I am going to go with Brooks and Dunn... even tho they are retiring. Which is pretty much the worst. thing. ever.
I've had the opportunity to see them a few times, and it has been absolutely wonderful!

day thirteen.

Catching up time: The night I got punched in the face

Veterans Day Eve.. can basically be called everyone and their brother goes to the Moon.

So we're going too. :)
the ladies :)
my favorite set of twins
my date, as per usual.
hahaha

So what you're really interested in...

Short version of the story- wait in line for an hour and 45 minutes to wait at the bar for-ever for the worst drinks I have ever had in my life (it should have been called a water and gin, not a long island), then was punched in the face and my hair was pulled while trying to make my way through the dance floor.

not the best night, but a great story for the grandkids.

oh my.

Confession Wednesdays: 12

So I have been pretty freaking bad on my blogging skills recently, but let me back date to last Wednesday, and yes. I promise I will get homecoming, ADPizza Pi, and Halloween pictures up soon.

When I graduate what I will miss most is my collegiate membership with Alpha Delta Pi.

I have full intentions of being an active Pi member as an alum, but I will really miss the pi palace. and the girls who won't be graduating yet, and the ones who will be, and the ones who already did. and the ritual. and the late nights. and the potential. the growing. joking around. the everything.

I'll spill my guts a little more in May, but for now I'll leave you with that.

we live for each other.

Family Weekend: part 2

I love my parents. I always have but its incredible how much more you love and appreciate them when distance is a factor. But I digress..

Saturday morning my parents came into town, and we went to the ADPi and Beta Parents Weekend BBQ (in case I haden't mentioned, we're paired up for Parents weekend and Homecoming = the dream senior year).

Food was good, the parentals got to see what Beta (or as my dad refers to it as Dustin's dorm), and getting to mingle with so many people was awesome.

Afterwards we went out to Gentle Bens for a little tailgating... which, was a good time. Then off to ADPi (first picture).

Game time = awesomeness. Minus the fact that we lost.

Afterwards we went out to La Fuente for dinner and margaritas, delicious! Plus, Im loving guacamole more and more.

When dinner was over Dustin, Dad, Mom, and I headed to the local tattoo parlor! We have had a matching tattoo planned for some time but we decided a few weeks back that this would be the weekend. David, an awesome guy, was our tattoo artist. Mom didn't flinch at all! Mine was a few inches higher on my wrist and it hurt just a little.

Sunday, Mom and Dad came to the Alpha Delta Pi brunch, which was really nice. They had to leave a little earlier than I would have wanted because I had to work, but all in all it was a wondrous weekend.

I love my parents <3
