ADPi Parents Weekend, Alum Style

As an alum, I am missing a little space in my heart, which was filled with collegiate ADPi love. And it has definitely been the hardest part of graduating.

So I jumped at the opportunity to come down to Tucson, and Parents Weekend? Why not.

Blogging hiatus and a rant

I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus. But for very busy reasons. working 30ish hours a week, while going to school 30ish hours a week, while doing physical therapy (ouch), and homework during my down time.

It's been a little insane-o. But wonderful. Because in one week from today I will be finishing my 90 hours of education and getting ready to start the exam process.

When I first decided I wanted to be a Real Estate Agent, I thought it was awesome. And my friends & family agreed. and they are supporting me to the fullest. [as per usual] Because they know I can do anything I set my mind to. But then, somewhere along the line, random strangers felt the need to tell me how my decision to be a Real Estate agent was a stupid one, as the economy is pretty down right now. Why, thanks person I don't even know, you obviously know best.

Actually you probably don't. Bet these people didn't know that 70% of homes sold right now are short sale and foreclosures (i.e. crazy cheap)? I bet they didn't know that the nation is facing record low interest rates, and that if you have the money, this is one of the best times to buy a house? Did they also know that for every home sold $60,000 goes back into our economy? and that people like me are going to help make that happen? and did they know I have heard numerous stories of agents who are in their first year right now and are looking to make around $100,000 this year (while my dreams would be reached if I made even a sliver of that, it makes me wonder- how much are you pulling in per year, stranger?)? I bet they didn't know things like this.

Point of the rant- I am oh so energized and ready to prove these fools wrong. I will be making money this year, doing something I like, and having the schedule I choose. I'll get to help people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. And these strangers can judge, and wrongly assume, because I have my friends and family who will be proud of me. And frankly, that's a-okay with me. Love y'all.

I love my Wildcats! They were Pac 10 Champions, made it to the sweet 16, then to the elite 8, and lost to a fabulous team.

Spring Break, the first chapter

Chapter One

So I'm about to graduate. And this means I have celebrated my last Spring Break.

My first stop was San Diego with Dustin and hit the town at Pacific Beach one of our nights there

Celebrate, Celebrate, Come on and Celebrate!

So, graduation = no more ADPi... which I hate. BUT it also = a party, which I LOVE planning.

Here is my invite!

I want it to be an adult, more mature carnival. My inspiration is coming straight from the invitation.

I would like to make pennant signs like this, which would be bigger pennants, with a letter on each one. Near the front door- Congratulations, Candyland near the candy bar, etc.

Speaking of candy bar here is my favorite inspirational picture, but I think I'd like to go with white, red and blue candies.

I found some popcorn bags that I would also like to stuff to put on the candy bar as well.

For food I'm thinking carnival food. Hot Dogs? Yes please. 

I also want to have some games to make the party more interactive. I think the one reason people don't stay at graduation parties as long as desired is because its just standing around and taking. 

So to combat party poopers (beside adding booze and punch for my non-drinking friends and soon to be moms) I am adding games like corn hole. It's going to be fabulous. 

I'm not too sure about other decorations yet, but this is going to be a start (also depending on how cheep I can get my desires for).

But even more so when a cute boy brings it to you because you worked for 9 hours without a food break (6 at Campus Crossings and 3 with TEAM).

And La Salsa Bean and Cheese burrito always makes me happy.

I am also grateful that I have the ability to get hours like that while going to school and being able to savor the time with some wonderful friends here at UA.

Day 17 - A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently

Recently? Huge impact? No idea.

My 4.0 is very important to me. It's been something I've been striving for for-ever and I'm so happy to have it.

But the most recent thing that has had a huge impact on my life has been my uncles death.

This Christmas season has been really rough. My brother took over his tradition of wrapping our gifts in the funnies from the newspaper, but it doesn't make up for him not being with us.

At least physically.

Family Weekend: Part 1.

This weekend was parents weekend, and I had a blast. But ironically, my weekend tales don't start with my parents because they didn't get in until Saturday.

Thursday was Miss Sarah's surprise birthday party :] Super fun! It was exciting to be on her side of it, but as of now I'm pretty sure I've never been on the sneaky side of the surprise. haha

Friday was the College of Science academic awards ceremony, where I got my first cord for graduation! boom baby!

For dinner, Dustin and I went with his parents to dinner at Oreganos-we all had such a fantastic time :)

Later that night Nicki showed up to t-town and we all went to Mallonys. Blast-a-roo!

The perfect crazy week remedy!

Last week was absolute madness.

I had to write 4 papers... three 5 pagers and a 1 pager.

The GRE killed me. Literally. I got 50 points lower than the first time around. However I'm not too upset about it because obviously that is not a correct measurement of knowledge. Study longer and harder and get a lower score? awesome.

SO it was wonderful to get away with some of my favorites to Vegas this past weekend!

Mom, Nicki, Cindy and I left for Vegas Friday morning, and what a trip it was!

Gambling, blowing our little horns, celebrating Nickis 23rd, The Bank at Bellagio, Craps lessons and mucho playing. It was awesome.

We got into the Bellagio without waiting in ANY line, for free, and with free champagne in the club. I've had special treatments and VIP lines before, but this was awesome.

On our last night there we all were so exhausted that we decided to hit the hay early, and then got up the next day at 5am to get some gambling in before we left at 10:30am!

Between 3 papers due this week, the GRE on Wednesday, readings for classes, class itself, and other commitments- there could possibly be a breaking point.

I'd say the weather man is predicting a 40% chance of Kelly showers.

Thank goodness for Vegas this weekend. If only I didn't have my first exam the Monday after Vegas, then everything would be absolutely perfect.

Oh well!

Life as a disaffiliate

Is rough. I am having a blast with the girls on the council as well at the Recruitment Councilors, but I miss my sisters. mucho.

Plus the long days and work are harder without your closest people by your side.

Which makes me excited for Bid Day. :)

Other than that, tomorrow is the Vendor Fair, which I have put quite a lot of work into. So we'll see how that goes. I'm excited for the Bare Escentuals group thats coming. Who doesn't love free, really expensive makeup?

Other than that, I'm excited for this upcoming year, good things are in store. Im sure of it. :)

Whats new?

So whats new?

Im doing the Panhellenic thing now... and I love it. It's so much easier than my last position at ADPi (MEVP), I get paid, have more free time, the prestige that comes along with the title, the chance to make a difference in the community, the opportunity to be a leader and positive role model for other sorority women, etc. Basically so far so good. I have already- had the deans list ad designed and printed in the daily wildcat and made a 27 page academic resource manual for all 4 councils (PHC, IFC, NPHC, and USFC). Starting next week I will be having one on one meetings with the scholarship chairs from Panhellenic and begin planning the 4.0 banquet with Graham from IFC. Its going to be awesome!

ADPi is... fabulous but I'm just having a few rough parts. I think once we get into the swing this semester I will be fine. Maybe it's because this is our first week of chapter and now we're finally all back together.

School is good. Im only taking 12 units, and they're all on tuesday and thursday. Fabulous. Nothing to special about the classes tho- I'm just trying to finish up some electives now that I am done with degree number one.

Friends are great. Still love living with Poolsie, and missing brunette number 1 a ton. But good news is that we will all be reunited next weekend at my moms big 50th birthday party!!! But back to Poolsie- it's nice to have a friend I know that I can count on in the good times and bad. :] and I am so glad I will get to live with her for another year and become even closer. Nic Nak is fabulous. We still don't spend as much time together as I would like (I guess that is what you can expect when 2 people who are as busy as we are, don't live together), but whenever we are together its like we never parted. She is such a good, old friend and I am glad Im still so close with her. 9 years... wow.

Family... not so good. UE has been in the ICU for 2 weeks now. His lung collapsed 2 weeks ago- that, plus a mixture of the phenomonia, and lung cancer they diagnosed today- is not good. They'll be discussing more surgery options tomorrow... so we'll see where that goes. I've been home both weekends, but won't be able to go back this weekend. What IS nice is that I will be going home next weekend for my moms birthday party- and will be there Friday-Monday.

Speaking of the party... its going to be INCREDIBLE. I am going to wait to be able to past pictures with the blog... so I'll let the suspense build.

As far as the boy goes... literally all of our friends are breaking up. Todd and Britt started dating 2 weeks before us and broke up a few days ago. So that has me a little on edge. And then today I realized- what if while Dustin is helping Todd recover, from what I can only imagine is sheer devastation, he starts to see the single life as something fabulous? I get that whatever happens, happens- and that God has a plan. BUT, losing Dustin is something I can't even begin to consider. But I guess that's what love is all about. Putting your faith in someone and taking the chance. :]

He is my person.

Christmas season!

Ahh I love the Christmas season, specifically the scent of cinnamon in my room, and of course the Christmas bush. I am super excited for this semester to be over and to get to go home to my family. Although I am sad that Brunette number 1 will be leaving, I am super glad I still have my brunette number 2 here with me. We're going to our farewell dessert/gift exchange on Thursday at the Melting Pot... delicious. Im excited.

I took final numbero uno today, hopefully did well. Tomorrow is my last test in a class before "finals" begin. One on Friday, then again on Tuesday and next Thursday.

Winter Break is going to be so super fabulous. Going to see the Nutcracker with a someone as well as our trip to Flagstaff. I am excited to hike squaw peak with mom, and spend time with my family, Amanda and Lindsay. Its always good to be home.

Well I have my last day of biopsychology today, which I would equate to winning the lottery. Im off to do that, I'll write more later.
